(Anonymous) 2012-01-23 05:48 am (UTC)(link)There's nothing wrong with Dora going to therapy, or Dora having issues.
The complaint is that Marten was treated as blameless, that his issues were not seen as a problem, when they ALSO were. And the fact that all the characters AND all the fans seemed to agree.
It's also really annoying that the girls' issues are seen as major things that need therapy or outside help, while the guys' issues are usually played for laughs, or more commonly with Marten, outright ignored on any large scale.
I just really want an arc with Marten going to therapy so I can tell if Jeph recognizes that Marten has real, life-affecting, long-term issues... of if he thinks that Marten is justified in most of his whiny, self-pitying behaviour and that there's nothing really wrong with him on a grand scale.
Because all the ladies being the "crazy" ones is starting to get old, when the guys' issues are ignored all the time. Especially when Marten's issues colour EVERYTHING HE DOES, not just relationship stuff.
Augh.
