...Your boyfriend dumping you over you not having an emotional reaction over a game (and bear in mind emotional reactions are dependent on mood and environment, yet cannot be controlled) seems really bizarre. If he's not willing to understand why you didn't cry, then he kind of sounds like an ass, where he expects you to live up to his expectations without any consideration for your views or opinions. :(

Either you are being really paranoid or he is being really melodramatic. Look, I don't want to assume, but I had a similar issue with my ex. He was the one who thought I would be mad if he had a certain opinion about a fandom thing, and a lot of it had to do with the way I reacted to it in the first place. I was really vocal about my opinions and he felt that he wasn't allowed to have the opposite opinion. He revealed this later and was very bitter about it, but the truth is that I would've accepted that we didn't feel the same way if he had been honest. It was sad that he got so resentful without even talking to me about it.

In other words, if you just think that he'll be mad because he has a strong opinion about this movie, don't let it scare you! If it comes up, just tell him. If he does react badly, you deserve better anyway.

I have a friend who was just like this. Took him a good couple of years to realize that even though I've got grouchy opinions about a lot of things, I'm not actually hateful at all. I actually have a stupid strong appreciation for upfront honesty regarding anything, especially disagreements, because it lets me know where people stand and know when they're being genuine. At least he got to breathe his sigh of relief that we weren't about to become vitriolic over something stupid though. Most dull, one-sidedly emotional, derpy conversation ever.

I'm not you, but to me, anyone who demanded I cry over anything, much less something as trivial as a fictional situation, would be cut out of my life so fast they wouldn't know what hit them. Trying to control when someone else cries is just... creepy and controlling and manipulative with hints of insecurity, sexism, emotional vampirism and all sorts of other nasty things.
