Wow. And what exactly are the wrong reasons?

I guess obviously overidentifying with them and then excusing the character's behaviour (antisemitism, being a "nice" guy, disregard for human dignity and life etc.).
Still not my best moments, I admit.

Gotta say, Eridan didn't exactly come off as a Nice Guy to me. He never insulted anyone who turned him down (no "that bitch" "how dare she" etc), he genuinely liked the people he was in relationships with, he never lied or got passive aggressive or manipulative. He just got mopey and clingy and uncertain when broken up with, which is a sin that most people are guilty of.

I mean, he was a bit of a shithead, but in a universe that contains Vriska, he didn't really rate that high on the shitheadometer.

i agree that he didn't exactly portray those tendencies in canon. however, people tend to defend him in Nice Guy ways-- blaming feferi for his actions because how dare she reject him, etc.

There's a good reason to like Eric Cartman?

Probably not, but I was going off of what the OP said, especially since Cartman was only one example. I don't even know the other two.

I suspect the mayuri is the one from bleach, and Eridan (and kanaya) from homestuck.

A sociopathic scientist, an alien nazi hipster and an alien reverse vampire respectively.

Normally I'd say something about people liking characters as characters who they wouldn't like as people, liking what they add to the plot, etc... but idk, Cartman? It's hard to think of anything.

My advice is to save up for a haunted castle on some deserted island. If you're going to be an evil fictional character killer, it's imperative that you do it right.

Something about this secret's layout is making me lol. I think it's the little descriptions of "me" and "pistol".

I don't really agree with this secret, but that is something I'm finding hilarious, ngl. :D

Let people have their opinions and you go and have yours and just don't act all holier-than-thou because you like "good" characters or...whatever it is you're getting at?

I though this was dumb until I saw that you wanted to kill Eric Cartman. Now...ambivalent, but mostly, why the fuck not? Go ahead anon--if any character deserves to die dramatically in front of an audience of adoring fans, it's him.

I had the same reaction except in my case it was Mayuri. I don't mind people who like him for the mad science or the way he looks or that one incredible The Reason Why You Suck Speech or whatnot, but god, I can't stand his apologists.

That's fucked up.

um i don't like eridan either and his more rabid stans tend to creep me out but this... is just weird.

Something about the glorious paint art, the awkward wording, the arrows, the filename, and the red font is equalling a recipe for making me have the laughs.

That said, I feel you on the "wrong reasons" part. It's all, "you GUYS. your opinion is WRONG stop being WRONG you're liking these assholes the WRONG WAY STOP IT AAARRRRGH," and totally irrational, but I understand it so much. Just so long a we keep it to ourselves, no one will get bothered :)

heh, kind of reminds me of how I was in high school sometimes. My friends got real crazy about stuff I didn't really like, so I'd write nasty things about it in my journal or something.
