Me too! I loved the series with Hastings and Inspector Japp and Miss Lemon, they were such an awesome team. The newer feature length ones are all glossy but they've lost the charm.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Very true. At least Hastings is coming back for Curtain. Hopefully the script/cinematography won't let us down.

Haha it's not like people don't get into shows years later because their dad buys a lot of DVDs ever.

As much as I love my shiny new Sherlock, I am falling more in love with Brett whenever I do watch the Granada series. Dude is just so...entrancing with how he moves and speaks.

Me too! But his disappearance happened in the books too. So at least it was canon. But I missed him from those too.

I think they're all awesome, I've recently gotten into Granada when they show it on PBS and love it but Sherlock is also my bb.

Wait, they had Sherlock and Poirot on the same show? tbh, I like Poirot, the best of all. Flawless character.

I fail to understand why you need to hate on Sherlock in order to justify your love of the older series. It just makes you sound like a dick.

People have different tastes, most people get that.

Who says I hate Sherlock? I'm talking about the endless stream of crime shows on CBS, USA, etc. that rely heavily on style vs. story and whose casts are all super attractive Hollywood models.

I disagree that I can't have an opinion on that.

Heeeeere we go again. Another one of those passive aggressive BBC Sherlock fans who pretend they don't care if someone doesn't like BBC Sherlock the most, then goes onto to insult the person for having this opinion anyway.

Some people don't like BBC Sherlock. It's called having an opinion. Most people get that.

Jeremy Brett is the one true Sherlock Holmes for me. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy the new ones but nothing can top him and the old series.

I really want to like Brett as Holmes, honest to gosh, but two facts stand in my way.

1- He is always shouting, often at me. Why are you shouting, Jeremy? Have I ANGERED you in some way???

2- His episodes are always very faithful to the original stories. The original stories are very often ABSURD. Seriously, Red-Headed League? Blue Carbuncle? Man with the Twisted Lip? Spotted Band? And it's not like translating the stories directly to the screen lets the audience follow Holmes' logic to the 'inevitable yet surprising conclusion.' I guess the ridiculous plots are just somewhat more palatable for me reading the stories directly.
