It's one of my favorite ways to go about it, but I wouldn't go at the corner or with underwear on. I usually slick a counter with lube (my bathroom counter is especially good for this, ahem), and make sure I get it riiiiiight on the clit.

not really, no. i just sort of rub the handle against my clit. personally, i only do it sitting down, with my jeans still on (and just the zipper undone), because then you can sort of rock the handle back and forth against your clit with some control - and also, since it's less ~predictable, it's hotter. again, imho, but.
