I think it's more the 'LOOK AT ME, AREN'T I SPECIAL!' aspect people have an issue with...which, in fairness, tends to annoy people irl too.

As far as OP goes - I can kinda see where they're coming from. It *is* annoying when someone uses a mental illness as an excuse to be a dick - or to get sympathy.
