I think it's more the 'LOOK AT ME, AREN'T I SPECIAL!' aspect people have an issue with...which, in fairness, tends to annoy people irl too.

As far as OP goes - I can kinda see where they're coming from. It *is* annoying when someone uses a mental illness as an excuse to be a dick - or to get sympathy.

It's true that using a disorder as an excuse for dickery is obnoxious.

But it's not so obnoxious that one should "automatically lose all respect" for anyone who mentions it ever.
