To the OP: I agree in that I'd probably sleep with him too, if I could. I have a list of characters and celebs I have a crush on and both Jack Harkness and John Barrowman are on those lists.

Honestly, I know the feeling. You're not alone. I tend to like looking at it, though, as 'he'd be interested in the person I am and not the way I look, which is not the standard image of beauty we get bombarded with.' Means the self-confidence issues are still there, but it's a more uplifting thought, so there's some work being made, right?

All kinds of people out there find someone to love, someone to love them. You don't need to fit into any sort of criteria. But it will be harder to find people to appreciate you when you can't appreciate yourself.

Probably best if I didn't meet Jack Harkness myself, I'd probably take him up as a personal hero and try to emulate him.

That's always been one of the great things about Jack Harkness. One of the (many) things that pissed me off about the S4 finale of Doctor Who was the way they had Jack completely snub Donna, acting like she had cooties when she wanted a hug after he'd gladly hugged everyone else.
