They might be talking about all of the child molestation accusations/trials MJ went thru when they say it would ruin their childhood, you know. Considering the film is about the Goblin King stealing a child and toying with an underage girl.

This was what I thought. I didn't realize there were other interpretations.

First thing that came to my mind. The idea of MJ stealing a baby adds a whole extra layer of creepy and DO NOT WANT.
