Why? No really, why are they creepy? Because it's unusual, and everything unusual is immoral and wrong? Because the only reason adults like anything is so they can fap to it? Why? I understand making fun of them, even if I think it's stupid, but why creepy? Anyone? Anyone?

Not anon, but I'll bite.

I find some of them creepy in regards to their 'enthusiastic' behaviour to non-fandom members, the passion/prevalence (i find obsession levels creepy in general when all someone posts is X) and, yes, the fetisisation I've seen creeps me out greatly (because the fandom is huge online and I hang on DA so I've seen a few and it creeps me the fuck out because my little sister watches this so it's never going to leave my mind that it's a children show and just general obsession levels creep me out).

tl;dr I find behaviour by some fandom members creepy, ergo I find the fandom creepy because I'm a non-fan who generalises.

But...but...if you *know* you're generalizing, why do you keep generalizing? How can you know what you're thinking is wrong but keep thinking it anyway? How does that even work? How can you think something and think something else at the same time? Feeling I understand, but thinking? /baffled

I find some people in the fandom creepy (I don't see how that's wrong? Some behaviour I see just hits all my creeper buttons) so by extension I find that particular fandom creepy. I understand it's generalising and you're not all creepy, but I find the fandom itself creepy because many fans seem creepy to me. Even though ~logically~ I know you're not all like that.

I think that was circular logic but hey, it's just how I feel. I'm not going to hunt down a fan and go "I think you/your fandom is creepy" or anything.

Oh, ok I get it. I mean yeah, having an irrational creeper alarm go off because of past experience is something very different from actually holding the opinion that a fandom is creepy. I guess your wording that you "find the fandom creepy" just confused me :)

(Also I actually am not in this fandom, I just watch the show here and there for the d'aww factor when I'm depressed. I'd probably understand this feeling a lot better if I actually participated in the fandom and met the creeps you talk about.)

They don't creep me at all. TBH, I'm confused by the enthusiasm. It's way more confusing with the Transformers fans because the MLP people don't seem like furries but Transformers people totally seem like objectophiles.

I really dislike when people make sweeping statements passing off their own opinion as the opinion of everyone who is not a fan of MLP. You find it creepy. A lot of other people do too, but not everyone; I don't. I don't get it, sure, but then I don't get why anyone would listen to Lady Gaga, that doesn't make it creepy.

Animation is a wonderful craft and a well written series - no matter the marketing target - deserves appreciation.

I can't believe in this age there's still a stigma over clean animation automatically being for kids only.
