You did misunderstand, but no harm, no foul. I was referring to the many versions of Sideswipe (and Sunstreaker) across multiple different canons. It seems like one of the common characteristics is a tragic past. I'm specifically thinking of G1, Armada, Bayverse, and the Shattered Glass mirrorverse, but there might be more that I'm forgetting.
