True, and I'm certainly not going to tell you how you should feel about it. But as a female, there are certainly many older literary characters that are a product of their times regarding women, and I still admire them in some ways while acknowledging that I disagree with their (outdated) views on my being an inferior being.
The whole point of Scarlett is that she's not a nice person, or even a very good person, but she's a survivor. I guess what I'm saying is that you're reading her the way the author intended her character to come across.
