I won't go so far as hate, but yeah, whoa so not feeling the love. So many aspects of it should have been awesome, but those aspects didn't mesh in my view. I REALLY TRIED too.

Yeah, I really, really didn't like it. I wanted to, because heaven knows I've always loved Jude Law's beautiful face, but I just couldn't.

I love it for RDJ!Holmes and Law!Watson. They make it worth watching. But there honestly isn't much else I'm keen on like the plot, the villain or some of the supporting characters. Except perhaps the visuals and setting which I did enjoy.

lol you and a good chunk of the holmes fandom. i don't get the hatred personally; not as in "you're a monster for hating this" but more in a "i'm surprised that people hate it so much" way. the indifference and mild dislike i get, especially considering the over-the-top action sequences and RDJ's love-it-or-hate-it Holmes, but hatred? i don't know...
haha tbh right now i'm falling a bit out of love with the BBC version and coming back to this one so i might sound a little defensive, don't mind me :')

Yup, I pretty much can't stand the BBC version now (after initially loving it), and you've reminded me to check out the RDJ version. Even though it might not be so close to ACD's books, at least Holmes and Watson seem to have genuine chemistry and affection for each other.

I hated it too. It didn't feel very Victorian and I didn't like RDJ as Holmes. He wasn't bad, but I'd prefer and English actor playing Holmes.

I think this thread proves not everyone loved it. It was an entertaining film at best, but entertaining does not always mean good. And I say this as someone who liked the film, but I liked it as kind of a mindless turn-off-my-brain kind of film, and I don't think the film was really going for anything beyond that.

The movie made me start getting into Sherlock Holmes, so I can't completely hate it, but after reading a bunch of the stories and then rewatching the 2009 movie, good god was that movie not good. RDJ's Holmes was just out of character more often than not.
