I've just always viewed her as gender-fluid. Like, she's now comfortable with being seen as a girl by most people, and doesn't feel the need to be a boy just to get respect, but maybe there are times when she feels most comfortable identifying as a boy simply because that's how she is.

(Of course, I also view Kanji's sexuality as panromantic, so I tend to just go with the headcanon that hopefully leads to less annoying arguments with fans. The only time I've seen wank firsthand was someone saying that since Naoto's a girl now, it's not cool to ship "him" with Kanji anymore, and most people just ignored it or gave it a simple, "You're joking, right?" response, but I really hope I never experience some what the fandom says can happen.)

I completely agree with this.

And I like the view that Kanji is panromantic. Because I ship him with the protagonist like BURNING but I also love him with Naoto.
