OMG a "Die Ärzte" secret :D If it's any motivation to you for learning German, their lyrics are very, very funny and full with double-meanings and also sometimes deal with serious topics.

And you're never too old for anything, anon ;D

I'm actually going to learn German, I decided. As soon as my tax return comes (I'm in the U.S.) I'm going to start. I do know what many of the songs mean from translation sites and Youtube fansubs but even those I could appreciate better in German of course.

So many favorites! I love Lied vom Scheitern possibly the best, because it's like a philosophy of life. And then Perfekt is like a philosophy of love. I know that sounds silly, but it's true for me. And I like the really funny ones of course like Meine Ex(plodierte Freundin) and Unrockbar. And there are some really good love and/or loss songs too like Mach die Augen zu and 1/2 Lovesong and Wie es geht. And I like Deine Shuld, and other serious songs. Fortunately I can get their albums on iTunes.

OMG, we both love the same songs <333 Have you also listened to the solo stuff? Farin and Bela have a lot of amazing albums between them and if I remember correctly, Rod did something as well.

Yay for iTunes <3 Sometimes it helps with getting your hands on foreign music :) I just wish I could sometimes buy something from the US or Japan iTunes Store and not only from the Austrian one... but what can I do? XD

Awesome! I'm glad if I have good taste... I made my kid listen to Lied vom Scheitern (w/Youtube fansubs) because I thought it was such good advice.

Actually I have all of Farin's solo albums! (Only some are on iTunes though.) I was into his solo stuff, and I loved it, and I sort of may have had a Farin secret here at one point but I didn't know much about Die Ärzte at all. Then I tried them and realized there are actually three awesome guys and not just one and got... embarrassingly fangirly.

I haven't heard Bela's solo stuff at all and I'm not sure how many translations are available but I'm probably going to get my hands on some of it anyway because I really love Bela. Not that I'm leaving Rod out either, especially after I saw the 1/2 Lovesong video...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind being able to use iTunes from other countries either. And it looks like U.S. iTunes doesn't have Bela's solo stuff. But I might try ordering a CD from Amazon.de.

I actually am already into Farin's solo stuff... I started with that first, then checked out Die Ärzte and I really loved them. But I haven't heard Bela's solo work out yet, and I really should -- he's written some of my favorite Die Ärzte songs and I like lots of different styles.

I love them so much. My favorite song by them (right now) is Lasse Red'n. It is just hysterical and so true. I want them to come to the US so badly so I can see them. I wish I saw them when I was living over there.

Ha, I was just saying in the comment above that I was listening to that one. I just discovered it recently and now it's going to be what I think of if I worry people are talking about me at work or something.

I don't think they'll come to the U.S. but if they did, wow, I'd be so happy I don't know what I'd do. Besides work extra hours so I could go see them more than once!

Meanwhile I'm going to try to learn German, even at my age, so I can enjoy even more of their songs...!
