... Do you realize that even if there isn't an English speaking fandom, that doesn't mean is as unknow in Japan?
Otherwise there won't be a second season...

To be fair it's not outstandingly popular in Japan either. It is, however, an NHK show and NHK is less dependent on revenue from commercials than other TV channels, and also has more money due to its position. So it can afford a second season from a show that doesn't have particularly great ratings (but not particularly bad either). Phi Brain is tied with another puzzle show so it's probably part of a thematic programming at NHKE.

HEEY. PHI BRAIN!

I love this show so much. I adore the characters, especially Kaito's harem, it's surprisingly emotionally engaging, and overall it's great fun. It even made me interested in puzzles (even though I suck at solving them...). Too bad few people seem to like it, the characters are fun and quirky enough for interesting fic.

Also, the animation might be average (it's not that bad... most of the time), it has a pretty damn good cast and music. And I don't think it takes itself particularly seriously - it's just a kids' show and knows it.

It's a show for kids (airs on the NHK education block or something). I'm not exactly surprised there isn't a fandom, but neither am I surprised at a second season.

Phi Brain is cool! Not my favorite thing ever, but interesting enough for me to still be following it and wondering where it's going.

Another Phi Brain fan here! I love this show. There's something endearing about it that keeps me interested enough to watch every week, although I'm the type who finds it very easy to fall behind at keeping up with series.

I wish Phi Brain had anything resembling a fandom. I think the characters are all really endearing.
