I grew up with the dub, and I watched that show whenever I could despite the fact that the show greatly annoyed me. Most of the characters were annoying, even more of the voices were annoying, and most of all the PACING was annoying. I still loved the hell out of that damn show.

I think that I was just really mesmerized by the animation. I recently rewatched the first season (in Japanese this time), and I was surprised to see that the animation was way crappier than I remembered. When I was a kid I was happy to see those same transformation scenes over and over again. It was so sparkly and pretty. ;_;
