Also AWTC. Just because you can't get a date doesn't mean you're asexual, amirite.

Wrong. Do some reading on asexuality before making stupid remarks.

I think she's referring people who self-identify as asexual just because they can't get a date.

I don't know...I've never known anyone like that.

Me neither, to be honest, but considering all the people running around online with "undiagnosed Aspergers" I don't think it's impossible.

[identity profile] jukebox-hero.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehehe, I never knew so many people had autism/Asperger's/bipolar disorder/trendy mental illness of the moment until I came to LJ.

[identity profile] bolshevists.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, right? It seems like everyone has been diognosed with at least two disorders.
Hmmn, I love it when people self-diognose~ ♥

[identity profile] jukebox-hero.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
And they wear it as a badge of honor! It's like, "look how fucked up I am!" Meanwhile, people who actually have those disorders would give anything to be normal.

[identity profile] bolshevists.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. I know someone with Asperger's, and my goodness, he's a lonely person.
Then there's always those kids waving around the fact they have ADD/ADHD. Hello, over-diognosed disorder! So-called 'mental disorders' are such a difficult subject, really. Where exactly do we draw the line?
Not that now is the time nor the place to be discussing such things. But I never was one for following such conventions.

I never had a single fucking clue what Pansexuality meant until I came to LJ. Funny that, really, wtf.

[identity profile] leadengine.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Jetamors understood what I meant.

I know what asexuality is. Asexuality is when the idea of dating, romance, or sexual behaviors is unappealing. That's how I used to feel, so believe me, I know; I, personally, have changed due to someone that I fell for, but I know people who are asexual and I respect that and understand where they're coming from.

I do know people, however, who say they are asexual and aren't, and I think it is positively stupid.

On a side note, despite your icon being insulting, I think it's adorable. Asch ♥

Also, your conversation below is amusing, and I agree. Coming from someone who is actually taking Lexipro and Welbutrin for anxiety, OCD, and depression, I find it pretty insulting when people act like being messed up in the head is a good thing, because believe me, if I had my way I wouldn't need medication.

[identity profile] jukebox-hero.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the clarification. I was pretty offended because as an asexual, I always have to defend myself against assumptions that I'm just a dateless loser, I was somehow traumatized as a child, or I "just haven't met the right man." It gets tiring, so I tend to jump on people pretty quickly, and I apologize for that.

I don't care for Asch, but I love that icon. It pretty much sums up everything he says in the game. XD

I also relate to the med thing. I've struggled with panic disorder and agoraphobia, and when it hits (it comes and goes), I'd give anything to get rid of it. Why people think it's cool to be screwed up is beyond me.

[identity profile] leadengine.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally understandable; I got a lot of shit for it too, when my friends would coo and squeal about various guys and I thought it was pointless and, quite honestly, rather repulsive. It really just depends on the person. People who assume things like that? Definitely need to be jumped on. I completely get where you're coming from.

He's rather annoying isn't he. XD But I think he's adorable, in his own, obnoxious way.

Yeah, I really don't get it, but then I generally avoid those people anyway. They can lose the respect of their peers if they want, I'll continue to wish that my childhood years weren't hell. XD
