Asexuality in fandom

There's been quite a bit of discussion on that. My feelings on it are that as asexuals, we don't have that drive to "hook up" and seek out relationships (by relationships, I mean romantic ones), so that leaves us with a lot of extra time to devote to our hobbies.

In addition to that, pretty much everything in the world is sexualized -- toward you. Walk around outside and it's just like, everywhere. Are you sexy enough? How do you look? Do something fun -- like flirt! Go have sex.

In fandom, there's less of that, it's the characters having sex, not yourself. I can see where the attraction lies for the asexual crowd.
