I don't think either secret was saying that lesbians or asexuals don't exist. (I got the impression the lesbian secret was posted by a lesbian actually and who knows maybe this one was posted by an asexual.)

I think what the secrets were saying isn't that it's bad to be a lesbian or an asexual just that people who claim to be one when they aren't are irritating. personally i don't think that attitude is fair because sometimes people really are genuinely confused, but at the same time it's not the same as saying "lesbians and asexuals suck and none exist".

Whoops, I must've spaced out and misread the secret. Sorry about that!

Still, I think they're being fairly harsh, for exactly the same reason you stated. A lot of people in fandom are in their teens or just entering college. Of course they're confused.
