To each their own. Personally, ROTJ is my favorite of the entire saga. I love redemption stories and I love endings, and ROTJ hits my buttons. Plus, it has Palpatine, who is pretty much my favorite Star Wars character. I love an evil villain who is just plain evil. They have their place just like the sympathetic villain.

Am I reading that you just wish they had spread those things out over more movies? Because if so, I can get behind that.

Kind of, except I would have preferred Wookies to Ewoks. Also a bit more time to have tension and development between Luke and Leia and Vader, so that the revelation that she's Luke's sister actually has some relevance to the plot.

I just hated the Ewoks. I was on board until the goddamn Ewoks.

But if it were that easy to topple AT-ATs, I have a hard time believing that nobody else had figured it out.

They toppled AT-STs-- with effective means, too. The AT-ATs were around the base platform, not the reactor bunker.

In later Expanded Universe stories, I believe some of the Shadow AT-ATs were mentioned to have been present, but Rebel Soldiers took those down with explosives. (People can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

I have really mixed feelings about ROTJ. On the one hand it has some of the most awesome parts of the whole series in it (the second Death Star run, Luke's confrontations with Darth Vader, Jabba the Hutt). On the other hand it has the Ewoks.

Overall I think the good parts probably balance out and for me it's the second best one after ESB... but I can see why people might disagree.
