I could kinda go with that. I suppose it can be seen as an "it's never too late" story as in he does have a change of heart eventually and in the short time he still lives there's implied genuine regret there. Don't know if the other characters would've readily forgiven him for all the shit he did had he survived ROTJ, there'd be a LOT of fences to mend not to mention I guess he'd be put on trial or similar.

Actually, that's making me want to find AU fic where Vader lives. And I don't really read much Star Wars fic.
