I gotta disagree here. Your best friend might indeed be tied up in obligations with you that would make it completely un-okay for them to disappear on you.

I can say if my best friend did something like that and didn't have a damn good explanation if and when they returned, I'd be finding an ew best friend.

Yeah, but "someone who wrote a fic I like" is not the same thing as "best friend".

Agreed. I was responding specifically to the part where anon said "nobody owes you anything, not your bestest friend..."

I'd say it's fair to feel that person might have some actual obligation to you, and vice versa.

Though even if they are writing fanfics... that's not where those obligations are gonna come up.
