enough negative responses that I'll reply with my sympathetic story.
a couple years ago I flailed over something in some show (probably something old and British) and I smacked my head really hard on the slate windowsill behind me. it hurt a whole lot. I paused the show to search for things like "hit head dangerous" because I was worried I was seriously injured. (also it was probably the middle of the night and I was relatively paranoid back then.)
in the end I'm fine, I don't watch old British shows anymore, and in the about 8 bazillion moves since then I've never set up my computer chair directly in front of a windowsill.

(also I'm worried about what your response was to the demise of this show. quite sincerely, I hope you're coping OK. when my shows are cancelled it can throw me into a bit of a funk. challenges my sense of reality more than any other aspect of fandom, I'd say.)

I'm sincerely curious about what makes a person do this. Like, what compels you to perform uncontrollable and borderline violent bodily movements while completely alone in response to something on TV? I thought that the whole thing about fandom people sitting in their rooms by themselves and "flailing" while letting out ghoulish "squees" was dorky hyperbole and now that I'm hearing stories of it actually happening I'm a little blown away.
