There are a ton of gamers who do not read fan fiction. Therefore what is required of being a Portal fan is loving the game series.

Yeah, I love Portal, but I've never even heard of this fic nor have I read or intend to read any Portal fic. It's just not my thing. I'd rather play the games and love it that way. So weird, right?

I love Portal 2, I never heard of that fanfic. The most I really read in the fandom was "Punishment" which has a sizable following now.

I'm sorry you're feeling left out OP :( while I'm only a lurker and that fic along with the punishment are the only ones i have read - I don't think you're any less of a fan. Anyone who says or treats you otherwise is being unfair

I didn't even know this fic existed (though I've been rather absent from the fandom for a while, there's only so much "HEY GUYS WHEATLEY WAS TOTES A GOOD GUY ALL ALONG" I can handle) so I'll have to read it myself to form my own opinion. Either way, it's not a crime to like something that was put up for the sake of having fun with a game series, so don't stress too much about it or about people liking something you don't get (which I'm assuming this little vent is about, correct me if I'm wrong).
