Okay, you don't get to define morality for other people, and you don't get to define logic based on your morality and apply it to others for the same reason.

Punching people in the face can kill them or disfigure their face among other things. That's a disproportionate retaliation for an slur. I'm not defining logic based on my morality, I'm defining my morality logically. Potential permanent damage isn't equal to a word that carries no legal power. The idea of moral relaitivity is dead, by the way. Unless you want to somehow justify the brutal torture of women by totalitarian communities in the middle east.

Either way, I don't see how I'm being unreasonable by asking people to refrain from PHYSICAL VIOLENCE that can lead to serious repercussions unless they themselves are being threatened similarly.

What strawman? The poster specifically mentioned "punching people in the face". Punches in the face have some of the worst medical consequences of any kind of punches. There was a story recently in which a guy punched another guy in the face because the other guy was flirting with is girlfriend. The guy that got punched DIED. Let me look for the news story.

Because physical violence generally has accompanying emotional violence? I mean, if a dude is beating his wife, there's the physical violence as well as the accompanying implied emotional violence of a loved one wishing harm on you. Also, emotional violence probably won't kill you.

Okay this post is like way too old so I don't remember correctly but afaik the OP of the thread was talking about punching someone, which does neither kill you nor make your arm fall off, I'm not sure where you're even going with that.
