This bugs me too, because it seems like, as the person choosing whether to warn for a trigger or not, you're somehow allowed to decide how people with triggers should treat their own mental health, because you know what's best for them, and they should just get used to being triggered like in real life! It sounds too much to me like "grow a thicker skin and your PTSD will go away!" Which may be how it works for some people (exposure therapy is a thing), but hello, you are not my medical professional, thanks.
You can warn or not warn, or whatever floats your boat. But I don't understand the backlash towards people who decide to extend this fairly simple courtesy. I promise they're not making my life with PTSD so soft and comfortable that I'll never ever recover, thanks so much for your concern and well intentioned advice.
TOTALLY OT SORRY just this makes me grate my teeth every time I see it.
