[Code Geass]

(Anonymous) 2012-02-17 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about thaaat. I'm not up on politics, and it's been a long time since i watched R2...I'm just here to fangirl over Schneizel

[identity profile] micromyni.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, that guy who looks like a Geassed version of Tamaki!

[identity profile] shiris.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Can't unsee it now. Thanks. XD

[identity profile] megalomaniageek.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
There is a guy named Tamaki in Code Geass so I stared at that for a solid minute before realizing you were talking about a completely different show.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I agree.

[identity profile] cyber-chaos.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. Definitely gotta go with the guy who wanted the untouchable flying fortress that dropped nukes down on everybody!

He's a keeper.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
to be honest I'ld rather get nuked than geassed.

[identity profile] cyber-chaos.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Depends on what the Geass is? There are certainly some ways to get Geassed that would be worse than dying.

I guess the point is that Lelouch's ultimate plan wasn't to rain nuclear death down on millions and millions of people. The two things aren't really directly comparable, anyway. It doesn't just boil down to Geass vs. nukes.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Desperate times call for desperate measures?

Besides, Lelouch rained the nukes down on everyone anyway, so...

[identity profile] cyber-chaos.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think he did? They way I understand it, he basically held the world hostage until he died. I don't think he actually went and blew up all those major cities like Schneizel was going to do.

The end result is way different, anyway. If Schneizel had won, he would have blown up those cities and held the world hostage--except for forever (or as long as he could), unlike Lelouch whose Demon Emperor stint lasted for a few months.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure he fired the FLEIA when he gained control of the Damocles. But it's been awhile since I saw Turn 25, so.

[identity profile] patra-h.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
No, he didn't fire the FLEIA on major cities like Schneizel. Why would he? That's pretty much the opposite of what he was trying to achieve.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Then what was that big pink burst when he gained control of the ship and had the trigger in his hand?

[identity profile] patra-h.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
He fired one FLEIA against the enemy forces. He didn't nuke several major cities in cold blood as per Schneizel's plan.

[identity profile] megalomaniageek.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes. Most certainly.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Maaaaaybe.

But yay hi Schneizel secret♥

[identity profile] megalomaniageek.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
A bunch of people in canon were going on about how great of a leader he would've made in peace time. Honestly I never understood what on earth they were talking about. He's basically a sociopath.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
This is what I don't get. I mean, yeah, Schneizel's good at faking it -- very good, obviously, to have fooled so many people -- but he completely lacks any sort of empathy or regard for the feelings of others. Why would anyone want a leader like that?

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
He understands at least theoretically how to make people happy and keep them happy, and actually at least on some level cared enough about the running of Britannia to want to tip his father from power when it was clear he no longer did.

But at the same time he's not personally invested in anything, so he's unlikely to have the errors of passion and heartbreak that ultimately screwed Lelouch over and made him a terrible leader. Schneizel would probably not go on a killing spree because his girlfriend was murdered, for example.

[identity profile] patra-h.livejournal.com 2012-02-18 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
No, he just planned to go on a mass-murder spree so that the surviving humans would obey him.

The fact that he was not personally invested in anything might mean he wouldn't make errors of passion, but it also meant he didn't really care for the survival or quality of life of the people he wanted to rule. He is pretty much the worst ruler possible.

(Anonymous) 2012-02-18 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, he's not very personally invested in anything, which is why I think he would have made a good Emperor. He understands theoretically what would be good for people and is good at politics and running organizations and such, just like Lelouch is. But unlike Lelouch he's unlikely to lose his shit over someone close to him being in danger or worry about his pride and be competitive about stupid things. It's his completely dispassionate, rational way of looking at and doing things that I think would have made him a good leader.
