Eh, I couldn't get it into it either OP, which was disappointing because I wanted to be able to like it also. (Some part of me figured it would fill the girls night void friends used to when I was younger, but not so much.)

Yeah, it's the modern successor to Friends basically. I just can't get into it.

Sometimes I can laugh at Barney's lines but it's in a "That's such a bad joke it's funny" kind of way.

i like it for a few reasons. i like its random, illogical humor based off of ridiculousness. it's my natural brand of humor, but seeing as how people irl don't find me funny very often when i joke like that, i can understand how you'd wouldn't find it funny. i also really the characters and the premise of the show.

I had been watching it from around season 2 or 3 because my roommates had the DVDs and loving it, and then a couple months ago I decided to go back to the very beginning and I found out I didn't really like the first episodes all that much. Maybe try a later season?

I agree. I wasn't too impressed with the show until the later seasons. I didn't HATE it. But I didn't love it, either, until probably the last season and a half before the current airing season.

Now I love it, but I think the most recent eps have been a little blah.

I think one thing I appreciate about it is that they keep their continuity pretty tight. Not perfect, mind you, but they refer back and forth a lot to jokes and events and have little need of ret-conning. So I appreciate that because it takes a pretty big effort from the writers.

I've only seen a few episodes and i didn't find it funny at all. it's a little embarrassing because so many of my friends love it and other than that we're usually right on the same wavelength as far as a sense of humor is concerned.
