I'm asexual. I was assaulted on my way home one day (not raped); a man snuck up behind me and grabbed my chest and wrestled me to the ground, but luckily then ran away. When I described the experience to the police, they were insistent that it was a sexual assault. It had honestly never occurred to me that his motive might have been sexual. It felt the same as any other assault would have.

Actually, it's often like that for people who aren't asexual as well. It feels like an assault, because that's what it is. It's not about the sex, it's an act of violence and exerting power over another person.
