I don't understand this strange need fans have to choose favorites. We're not in grammar school, when you have a best friend, and a best best friend, and all your very favorite things go on a list, from best to worst. Both shows are good, they both have strong and weak points. I've noticed, OP, that the UK fans are a bit hostile if you don't agree with them, but its no different than the Fullmetal Alchemist vs. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood fans, or UK QAF vs US QAF, or freaking Vampire Diaries vs True Blood (cause they both have vampires, so you have to choose!).

What I find so ridiculous about this is, when it comes to fan fiction, when I find a particular plotline I like I immediately look for more stories with the same basic plot, cause I enjoy seeing what different authors can do with the same idea. When I fall in love with a genre, I want to watch more in that genre, cause more of the things I like is a good thing. The strange intensity people have in defending their favorites is baffling to me, and hearing someone shit on one thing to try and make the thing they like look better has never, ever made me more interested in the thing they like.
