I wish they'd both died tbh. Partly because I hate the Mother Always Gets The Kids trope ending and also Bill was....well, he seemed like a nice enough father but he was Bill for Christ sake. :P

Pre-movies, wasn't she one of Bill's assassins? She only started killing people who tried to kill her within the span of the story.

Except prior to her coma, she was an assassin. A profession she quit the instant she found out she was pregnant and wanted to become a mother.
She only went after the people who fucked her over so as to get even, not because she was insane.

Beatrix is obviously the lesser of two evils so I'm not that miffed that she got the kid in the end.

I just would've preferred, for the sake of drama, Bill and Beatrix killing each other in a kind of Mexican stand-off. But that's because I like incredibly bittersweet endings like that. :P

You just reminded me of that horrible ending. Two movies following the bride around to see her have her just revenge, then she ends up knocking on Bill's door, passing out on his couch, watching him cook for their daughter and sitting at a table having tea or coffee or whatever with him. If I didn't know better I would've guessed Tarantino changed his mind halfway through the second movie and decided to make a coming of age movie instead of an action film. Your idea would've fit it perfectly.

I shipped this SO HARD the last time I saw this movie.
Nonsensical and unrealistic? Yes. But so was the movies, themselves.

Haaa, this sums up ALL my feelings about this topic. Tarantino's works are messed, who am I to try to bring in any logic for them? Live and ship freely.

Plus their scene before her wedding kiiiiiiiiilllllls me.

Well, remember, he had his assassins swoop down on her at the moment when she was getting married to someone else, whom she presumably loved. Killed him. Killed all her friends and family who were at the wedding, too. There's pretty much no forgiving an ex after THAT, and I wouldn't be able to empathize with her character at all if she did.

Just because they made a sperm-and-egg omelet together once doesn't mean her quest for revenge should have petered out into OTP squishiness, even despite their chemistry and the bittersweetness of their last interactions.

I like to think that the endgame of Beatrix's massive revenge-quest is that when it's all done, she and her kid can finally be sort of safe. I'm not worried about her future romantic life, because even as a single mom, she still looks like Uma Thurman. :D

hee! nah, after she did the exploding-heart technique and clearly felt bad for killing him and he started telling her she wasn't a bad person, I DID get a little bit sad that it had to end that way

but still, I'm good with that ending overall. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be kinda bittersweet. They WERE a badass couple - but then he decided to kill her. That was a bad move.

Yeah but the whole point was that could never happen because he went too far - he would always be an irredeemable murdering bastard even if he did love her and was a good dad. (It always worries me what she's going to tell BB about where her dad's gone btw!) Whereas Beatrix is redeemed by caring about someone else more than herself.
