Polar opposite here. I'm hopeful that she shares no genetic relation with anybody from the past. Not everything should be a legacy, and she already has one big obvious legacy anyway. Chief Bei Fong existing is fine, but Korra should be her own person, free of any genetic expectations.

I'm also hoping that Toph hooked up with somebody we never were even introduced to in the series, because not everybody should find love with their childhood crushes.

The only ones I'd be happy to hear were the parents are crackship pairings, namely, Zuko or (especially) THE BOULDER.

There's nothing wrong with not shipping it, even if you think they'd theoretically go well together. You have a good reason, but you don't really need a good reason anyway.

I have great curiosity as to Chief Bei Fong's ancestry, and not even mostly for shipping reasons, but I'll have to wait and see.

This is really really sweet. I like relationships that are adorable in many different ways.

Ugh, I feel the same way. My older brother took his life when I was seven, so I never got to know him/have a brother/sister relationship. :c

Sokka is an awesome big brother figure to Toph, and I think that kind of relationship is stronger in the end.

Ah, these two! I could never say who's my favourite character, cuz I realize that the main characters are too awesome to choose just one.
It seems to me that Bryke would have Sokka and Suki stay together forever, so I doubt Chief Bei Fong is Sokka's daughter.

Likely, Sokka married Suki--it's a kid's show, they tend to stick to their original relationships, and it's likely that both Sokka and Suki were of legal age at the end of season 3 anyway, so why would they wait?

I never shipped them either, I shipped The Duke/Toph, and I'm kind of hoping that Chief Bei Fong is their grandchild... ^^;

I would bet money that Lin Bei Fong is not Sokka and Toph's daughter. Sokka presumably married Suki, and who knows what Toph got up to in the decades after the war.

Y'know, I think this secret really pins down what I loved about the Gaang. I just loved the relationships between all of them and how much they all cared for each other. It was very sweet, and I think it was the driving force of the show. I don't fully ship Tokka myself, I mostly just think it's cute and prefer it platonically like you've described here .

I love their brother-sisterly relationship. The friendships on that show were wonderful.

I love them having a platonic relationship as well. They had a really cool, non-romantic bond and I loved that.

I'm actually kind of hoping we don't find out who Chief Bei Fong's father is. Even better if it's implied Toph was never married. I doubt it'll happen though because it's a kid show.

Yeah, I don't think Sokka would ever be able to see Toph as anything other than little sister/awesome buddy.

I think Sokka also seems to be more attracted to more "girly" women and I don't see Toph ever growing into that.

Sokka I think might still have some somewhat sexist inclinations and I think he'd prefer being the more "masculine" one in his relationships. Suki is badass and can take Sokka in a fight, but she's still very feminine and seems to share a similar personality to Yueh, who was pretty damn girly.

Sokka I think will always have insecurities about not being a bender and I think being in a relationship with one would mess with his head and create unnecessary jealousy and tension. Being with a fellow non-bender I think allows him to retain a sense of dignity in a way.

It's hard for me to imagine what Toph would be like as she became an adult. On the one hand I could see her being a traveling bender with her same "masculine" demeanor, but on the other I could see her taking the reins of Clan Bei Fong and becoming a politician which would probably require her to become more polite and lady-like.

So it's hard for me to picture a guy who would make Toph happy and that would either appreciate her loud/tough/rude attitude or be okay with her being the one with the most social power. I can't really picture her ending up with a nobleman who outranks her because I think he would try to control her and she just would not be having any of that. For some reason I could see her falling in love with a servant. She could be herself around them and they'd be no issue of class power struggles or anything. The stable boy or whatever would just be devoted to her and support he any way he can.

Plus her parents' reactions to her courting a commoner would be hilarious.

I know what you mean, OP. I never knew my older brother at all - he died when he was little and before I was even born - and while I have a younger brother now, I sometimes find myself wondering what having a big brother by my side would have been like in some moments. :T

I've always thought they had some kind of adorable sibling vibe too OP.

Between you and me I'm hoping she's related to Ohev (that adorkable little servant boy who worked for the Bei Fongs but took off with the hippies in that silly little Love Potion No. 8 book I'm probably the only one who ever read/remembers).

Aw, I'm sad that I'm late to this secret. I could read SO MUCH FIC just about them in their 20s being close buddies and the only two in the clique who still have somewhat immature senses of humor and all.
