I am sorry if this is no place for this but the frequenters of f!s seem to have opinions on this sort of thing, so I figured I would give it a shot.
I would like some advice on handling a character with a disability, because I have been writing this original fiction story and I feel like his portrayal is coming off as a bit offensive. The character was recently blinded, and the POV character frequently reminds him of his insecurity, and manipulates him to make sure he doesn't go out into the world. He also treats the blind character very condescendingly. It is done out of sort of love, sort of hate, but either way I know it isn't right. However, the POV character is a manipulative bastard, and he is mostly fine with it. I feel like I am handling it wrong and coming off as ableist.
Any advice on how I could make it clear the character's opinions aren't my own? Or similar advice?

I guess you could make an author's note about it? I know I've read fanfic where the story includes things like homophobic language, but the author makes sure to mention that the character's opinions don't reflect their own so they don't get dogpiled by well-intentioned readers. I think most readers would accept that and realize that you aren't being ableist yourself.

Is the whole story about a manipulative asshole? And is this the only jerky thing he does or is he generally shown to be a jerk about everything? IF that's the case, then why worry about this one aspect and not that people will think all of his jerkitude are representative of your own ideas?

He is actually fairly pleasant to the other characters, this is the only character one the protagonist's side that he manipulates obviously.

Okay, gotta admit, it is vaguely weird if you have a character that's pleasant to everyone except the disabled character. Sounds a bit sketchy, but then I know very little details here. Why is is plot important that you have a disabled character manipulated and treated badly? Is it ever pointed out that this character is behaving badly? Does he realize he's being a dick or does the blind character catch on and stand up for themself?

So basically the story is told from one of the villain's POV, though it isn't clear cut. The blind character is his older brother, who he had a rather rocky relationship with. I guess the manipulation is there to show how messed up the POV character is, that he would shamelessly manipulate his loved ones. He is also actually very guilty over being the one who accidently caused his brother's injury, and sort of takes it to bad lengths to make sure something similar doesn't happen again. Eventually, yeah, the brother is going to put the POV character back in his place.
You have a good point though... I should re-evaluate.
