mine went from a pittsburgh accent to a west virginia twang to something that sounded almost australian when i was in the uk. so idk, man, idk. i was making such a concious effort to not ~slip~ into london pronounciations and have people think i was imitating them that i went in the opposite direction.

Yes exactly! I even started saying 'Y'all' a bit. Which I would never say in the USA.

But while my accent got broader, my cadence started following the way people were speaking around me. The emphasis on certain words in a sentence shifted weight, causing me to stutter when I actively listened to myself talking.

It makes me wonder if I'd pick up tonal emphasis if I lived in China for any length of time.
