I've never dabbled much in this fandom, but it's been like 9 years since the last chapter, so I'm not surprised that there's sand in the vaginas of those involved.

No, no, it's always been like that. Has nothing to do with the fact that it went on hiatus and never came back.

Please don't listen to knkfics. Maybe they had a bad experience that lingered but the fandom was not always this bad :( It was really enjoyable and even there was disagreement that's typical of fandoms. But it produced great works, people had fun and I don't think there was any major shyness.

I am never going to cease being glad that I missed the heyday of this fandom... Run away, OP, and have your own fun.

Um. The heyday? It was fantastic. There was appreciate of art, fics, people constantly produced fan stuff for it. People did fantastic cosplay. There was more joy than misery. I'm not saying it was perfect but it was a lot of fun and I have great memories and friends from it. It's only around 2002 or 2003 that things declined.

This anon speaks the truth. X was the fandom of my life and I was sad to see it go extinct <3

What the heck are you talking about? The heyday of this fandom was a thing of beauty. I still have a bunch of close friends from it, 9 years later.

All in all, I really like X/1999 but I've never been in the fandom.

I use to be heavily into X, and was known for that back when I was on Gaia a lot, but mostly I just fangirl with my friends

And that is exactly why I stopped writing X fanfiction.

People that give you shit for shipping various things are absolute assholes. I really really ship Subaru/Seishirou, but I also like Subaru/Kamui and various others like Fuuma/Kakyou. Fuck the haters.

I personally dislike how some X fans use news posts about any new CLAMP project as an opportunity to complain about the series' cancellation. It's...well, maybe it's time to move on. We have no idea when or if CLAMP will resume the series, and it's clear that the group as a whole has moved on from X in terms of their story tropes and aesthetic. (I mean, for the entire period of Legal Drug's hiatus, Tsubaki Nekoi continued to draw and talk about the main characters, and it was obvious that she wanted to restart the series. We haven't seen anything like that for X.)

It'll likely never be finished. Complaining isn't going to change that, you know?

Really? I'm pretty sure they talked about going back to X, especially since they were close to the end and it is their most popular work.

Nekoi talking about Legal Drug doesn't mean anything, especially when she was the main artist while Mokona was the main artist on X.

But you are right that the fan shouldn't get so hostile and entitled when they start a new series. At least they are going to finish Legal Drug under a different name. The issue with X is a lot more difficult than they simply don't feel like drawing it when they have to find a magazine who is willing to carry it, especially since it was getting progressively darker.

And it's kinda unfair that they got a reputation that they don't finish works when their bibliography says otherwise.

I was around in the fandom when it was active, and I had a great time. It was a lot better there than any of my other fandoms before or since. Sorry to hear you had the bad luck to get stuck with wankers.

Haha, I get what you mean, although some of the, eh, character intrepretations around are really crazy ... like Harry Potter fandom crazy! I think it's pretty normal that fans of the character(s) get pissed at others for mangling their favorite.

May I ask what your favorite pairings are?

It sucked when I joined in 04, can't imagine it's gotten any better.
