Thanks to some luck with ebay and picking up random volumes through B&N and Amazon, I have the complete set in English. I enjoyed the series, and encourage everyone who likes stories about strong women or post-apocalyptic settings to give it a try. :D

Yay, Basara! I just finished that for the first time about a month ago and absolutely loved it, it's so good. Yumi Tamura's stuff in general needs more love, 7 Seeds has almost no fandom either and it makes me sad :(

Basara is the only manga I read all the way to the end, not missing any volumes, because it was that good. Yeah, I wish it had a real fandom, too.

The story takes place in a future Japan, reduced to a barren desert by a catastrophe at the end of the 21st century. The main character is Sarasa, a girl whose twin brother, Tatara, is prophesied to be the "child of destiny" who will bring back the country's independence and stop the tyrannical rule of the Empire, namely the Red King. Oh man, I was into this manga years ago but it was really hard to find volumes for it even when it was being published. =(( Also there's another Basara manga that I get confused with this. To be clear this Basara I'm thinking of, and it looks like what you like, is about a girl who replaces her brother and acts like a prince and tries to win back the throne and meets up with the enemy who doesn't know she's part of the other country and they go on an adventure right?

If so, yes...I miss that manga. =(

I love Basara but Viz made me so goddamn angry with how they discontinued random volumes from the middle of the series while still publishing the rest of it.

I AM MISSING VOLUME 20 AND IT MAKES ME SAD. Especially because people are selling it for $300+. DDDDD:

It's one of the best manga ever created. There's nothing else like it.

I never thought I'd see this ever again! I was so into Basara in high school! I only read two volumes though, the only ones I could find. I wish I could finish the series, I loved it so much.
