If it makes you feel better, I have never been secret about how much I dislike the Lambo twins and how fanon warped their characters into something mundane and irritating. I have yet to encounter fandom pitchforks aimed in my direction.

I know how you feel. I was never much for them in the first place though, just thought their fanon was dumb, then idiotic RP drama ruined Sideswipe completely for me because the damn player was a wanky fucktard and I can't help associating the character with her now.

Fuck 'em. Own the Lambo twins how you love them, not how fandom needs to make them. The Lambo twins are what they are and what they've always been - they're not special snowflakes, they're not stupid, they're just mechs. And Sunstreaker's attitude across canons made me feel not that bad for him in the IDW incarnation, so...the hype can stick it.

If there's anything I've learned about this fandom, it's to play in your own sandbox when people start ruining something you love.

I enjoy them as characters, but hate what fandom does to them. It also doesn't help that I only know the G1 cartoon as a source of info about them, so I sometimes have a hard time figuring what is canon and what is fanon, because I don't read any TF comics.

But, like you, I kind of wound up hating them -- They are totally destroyed by most of what you find in fics. If people want to destroy them, whatevs. I'll stick with the little twins and the jet twins instead, kthnx.

I don't much like them either. I mean I've got nothing in particular against them, but I've never understood what the big deal that makes them so special in fandom circles is. They're just, uh, some guys? Who are kind of vain? I don't even know.

The only thing I've ever really liked about them is the TF concept of twins... and that's mostly fanon at this point, so there goes that.

As characters? Boring. Fans ruined them with the "hurr hurr Sideswipe plays pranks" and "Sunstreaker is a misunderstood artist" crap. Once or twice was fine, but seeing it in nearly every fic makes me want to avoid every fic that features them in it at all.

I still love them, though I'm very picky about fics. (I love quite a few bots though, so it's not all that surprising.) Though I don't know where the idea of them being a couple of goofy pranksters came from. I see that quite a bit (though not as much as tortured artist Sunny), and I'm like, "Have you never seen anything with Sunstreaker in it? Ever?"

I can't help but be reminded of Fred and George. I wonder if there's any overlap in fans who write Lambo pranksters and the Weasley Twins?

Yet another someone who thinks the TF fandom is evil and will burn anyone with a differing opinion. I have never seen it. Not on the forums, or DA, or Tumblr or any of the many fiction sites or anywhere else TF related. I don't see the hate, anon.

Everyone loves different characters. It just so happens you don't like two that have a little bit of a following. Just like I dislike Prime. I don't see the big deal.
