I also forgot the fandom for robot shows not called Gundam is very male dominated; see: Evangelion fandom or Macross fandom.

Even Gundam is a very male-dominated fandom, you just don't notice when you're on tumblr or livejournal because a lot of the users on those site are female

Oh yes, Dragon Quest. Yup, it's always been that way with the DQ group. I was even more unusual when I was the little girl playing DW/DQ1 back in the 80s, and it hasn't changed a lot now. Ah well. I tend to focus on other parts of the franchise than a lot of the men do, however.
