It is nice, after being in the real world, with prejudice and being paid less, denied your sex drive and objectified, to be able to have a big girly perve fest, where your opinions are respected and your work is valued. That said, boys can join in too, yo, just don't expect RL priviledge

I join in, believe me- after a long, frustrating day of fighting the kinds of prejudice I have to face, I get my squee on just as hard. It's an escape as much as it is an affirmation of me as a person. :)

Many of the women in the fandoms I've been in are far, far, far more talented and articulate than I could ever be- I feel lucky to know them. I'm glad you feel appreciated, anon!
