I used to love Harry Potter fandom back in the day, so I can kind of see having to either be really freaking good at something or put a huge amount of work into the fandom in general in order to get any kind of notice, and that's probably what's most impacted my view of fandom in general. I tend to think, I've busted my ass all day at work, now when I get home it's my time to relax and unwind and enjoy myself. So I'll do fun things and contribute sometime, but I'm not looking for any kind of fame nor do I even want it tbh... I imagine it's a huge headache more than anything. And it doesn't usually matter to me who the bnf's are, as long as I'm enjoying myself and they aren't keeping me from doing so.
