I had (sort of still have) a friendship like theirs. It's awesome, except for when my Turk found his Carla. Then it got a little sad because I realized our relationship was way too close and I was kinda alone after they got married. Not that he totally abandoned me or anything, just...it changes things.

I would not mind getting platonically married with a friend of mine. Tax benefits, no such thing as "cheating," adventures forever, combined income, we get to visit one another in the hospital, tax benefits. You know? Amazingness.

Except for the part where that would result in extreme awkwardness when they want to get romantically involved with someone. And also the part where he told me it's a terrible idea, and it involves too much paperwork.

*SIGH* I guess I'll never find my literal life partner in crime I don't want to bone and vice versa :'/

I like that idea too! I've known my best friend for over 10 years and we've decided once we're out of college (since the likelihood of either of us getting married in that time is very slim) we're just going to live together because we just...work. I wish there was an option for platonic marriage, sigh...

Well, in places where same-sex marriage is legal (unless you and your friend aren't the same sex, in which case pretty much anywhere) you can get married anyway -- no law that says you have to prove you're attracted to each other. If there was, 3/4 of all those marriages between ugly rich guys and gorgeous young women would be invalid :D
