I'm almost done with the first book and I don't understand what the 'ships' could be other than Katniss/Peeta. Do you mean Katniss/Gale is actually a ship? He's barely in the first book. If there's more of him to come then I can see it but I prefer not to know because of spoilers.

This story is not at all the shippy kind. Katniss spends the majority of the game alone and it's her awesome survival skills that matter, not whatever relationship she has with whoever.

An aside: God the casting of this movie is so off. None of the characters look like how I imagined them and it makes me not want to watch it.

IA. That and all the comparisons to twilight are scaring me away from watching at the cinemas and scaring me away from fandom..

There's comparisons to Twilight??? How? On what f'd up ground? These two books are NOTHING alike. One is a well written piece of Young Adult fiction about a character who is interesting and empowering. The other is...twilight. They aren't even on the same planet as far as literature goes. *shakes head at stupid people*

The books were great - but the comparisons make me wonder about the movie quality and if they're going to pull a love triangle out of nowhere and ignore that the starcrossed lovers was originally an act.

I have many fears because i really want to enjoy it

I think the comparisons between Twilight and the Hunger Games are on the grounds of writing quality (though I'm not sure). The writing and storytelling in Hunger Games is far from fantastic — maybe not as bad as Twilight but, well…
