Aw, OP.

No really, we're nice! Remember those people only met through the Portal fandom, and they love talking to people. IRL friends or not, we love just about any old scribble in response to another scribble. It doesn't have to be perfect. We reblog that shit like mad.

And the Portal fandom in particular is ripe for this sort of stuff, so you only have to jump in on Tumblr whenever the next thing comes along. Remember the Wheatley telephone meme? :)

OP, on the subject of wishing that you had a talent with art in order to be involved... sounds like you have a passion for creativity that could use some exercise! I'd encourage you to start playing with drawing a little bit if that's what inspires you. You may find you love playing with it! And the more you play, the more skills you develop, and the more confident you can become in inviting people to join in the play like those artists have. :) Some people DO start off with natural talent or a "knack" to get them going with art, but even they put the hours in that improve and hone their abilities, and a lot more people just practice, practice, practice! And hey, even if drawing doesn't happen to be the thing that calls you for now, or ever, there's always other creative roads to explore... If you find something you love, give yourself permission to run with it, no matter what level you're at. :) People can't help but gravitate towards a person that does what they love, and loves what they do... even if it's "just" a hobby! ;)
