odaiba ;__; i know very little about it other than what this show and some friends who have visited have told me but it is a place i would like to see at some point and i blame this series entirely. i've been in love with this series so long that i can barely remember not loving it (and i was probably way too old for this fandom ages ago but i still write for it quietly because i can't break away if i tried). it was the first i remember getting invested in as well :)

Haha, I hadn't even thought of Digimon in years, but the first time I went to Odaiba the first thing that came to mind was, "Wow, no one gets this right." Now I know quite a few people who live there, so I have seen more of the residential bits, but it's still super mall city.

Wow, this takes me back. Digimon was also the first fandom I seriously invested any time in - fic, art, you name it. I've probably visited your shrine. I used to have a folder in my favourites bar entirely devoted to Digimon character and pairing shrines... God, I love this bunch. (Adventure ftw!)

Gonna go google pictures of Odaiba now...

I'm really happy to see this secret because I'm going through a big Digimon thing right now. And honestly? If I were wandering around Odaiba, I would probably end up envisioning Digimon clobbering one another in the streets while the passers-by don't notice them.

Trigger warning for cutting, rape, deathfic

Okay so-

Does anyone remember this really dark Digimon fic of Matt and Tai arranging to meet at a park in the middle of the night, only Matt gets mugged and possibly raped, and Tai finds him and goes off to find some water for Matt to drink, only while he's gone Matt slices his hand with a shard of glass or ceramic piece, and Tai comes back to find him? Meanwhile, TK and Kari are out looking for their older brothers, and TK runs out into the street and gets hit by a car and Kari gets pneumonia.

I remember it so vividly because at the time it was the most horrific thing I'd read, but I'd love to find it again to laugh at the melodrama.

Help me, oldschool Digimon fans, you're my only hope!

Unfortunately I don't remember that one, but this made me recall the almighty how-to guide "Kari Has Leukemia!" (which I can't find either).

I encountered the author of that years later in Naruto fandom and had no idea it was the same person :)

Kari tends to die a lot in fic, doesn't she?

OH GOD! THAT ONE! A history making fiction if I remember right, since 99% of the time unless you were on a site that did multi fandoms, or cross fiction you never heard about any other stories from other fandoms, but THAT ONE was talked about. I recall it took most of the fiction awards too.

I'm sorry I can't recall the name, and most of the old sites that has hosted final have faded away.If I can point you anywhere Yahoo Groups still might have it somewhere. A lot of old fiction groups are still up, and since it was a popular story it might just pop up. Or just maybe somehow, it slipped pass those evil asses that took over fanfiction.net and it might still be up since they keep the Digimon fiction.

I wish I could remember more of it (I was like ten when I read it). There was a beer bottle or something in the park and suddenly Matt was really hurt in an alleyway somewhere? And then Tai found him and didn't know what to do so he tried to get some water for Matt, and then I don't remember what Tai did after he came back? Did TK and Kari die? Did Tai and Matt?
