I actually wish there were more threeways where character Z is just X and Y's beloved old best friend who they like to have sex with once in a while, instead of making X Y and Z into some shining golden triumvirate of epic purity and deep sexual enlightenment or whatever.

I get so excited when I see fic with poly relationships that isn't either the epic triumvirate or angst-laden x is dating y, but then falls for z - WHATEVER WILL X DO? Those are good on occasion, but sometimes I just want poly fic that's not all about EPIC ANGST or NEVERENDING SOULMATE OT3 LOVE.

Yeah, I know what you mean- maybe Z even has a relationship or two on the side that X and Y have nothing to do with. Or maybe X and Y have an agreement that when they're living in the same house, they're monogamous, but sometimes one of them goes on a long vacation, and they see other people, and it's okay. Just, variety is nice!
