Wait. The real Ronald Reagan or the Republican made up one?

They're equally shitty, what's the diff?

One's a centrist, tax-raising former Democrat, who became a Republican because California took a weird conservative turn, and the other's the most conservative man in the world. I'm not saying the former's not shitty, although I think he's pretty average as a president, but there's a hell of a difference between the two.

Oh, see, because I think he's one of the worst, and most homophobic, presidents in American history.

And frankly the made-up shit that modern Republicans love him for is still horrible policy, so either way, Hank idolizes a shitty human being.

Most homophobic? Considering that most of the presidents probably were until very very recently, and even then I'm suspicious about whether Democratic policies are ideology based and voter-based, considering how Christian some of them are, and some of the worst LGBT legislation was something Clinton signed off on (god I hate DOMA so much), I'm going to have to disagree. I mean was he threatening harm to gay people, in which case, I would agree? Otherwise he seems as homophobic as everyone else. I would say he was racist too, since I'm suspicious of anyone who turned Republican in the 1960s, but I'm not sure I would say he was the most racist.

I mean, shitty human being in the racist and homophobic way people are I'll agree, but he was decidedly middle in his presidential actions. Maybe his policies are reverberating for you in some way I'm not aware, but "one of the worst" ignores a lot of presidents. I mean, worst than Jackson?

I think Reagan is considered one of the most homophobic because he decided to ignore the AIDS crisis until his second term in office. I really hate Reagan myself and despise his worshippers, but he also opposed banning gay teachers from schools, so I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as Santorum.

I still think DOMA is worse. I mean Clinton made gay marriage federally illegal. AIDS is kinda different, since it's a health crisis. Do you mean ignored in that he didn't devote federal funding to research or that he didn't devote federal funding to awareness or both? Because those are all stupid responses that have more to do with political capital than homophobia. In that his political capital rested in homophobes, mind you, but it's unclear what he would have done if they hadn't been such dicks. And if we're going to blame him, I think we have to blame congress, too. Clinton on the other hand could have vetoed. It would only have been to make a point, since it probably would have re-passed in the House and Senate, but still. In other words, I really think Presidents' political movements is more swayed by their bases than by their beliefs. So while I think we can judge their character and strength of will, and I don't really think we can automatically correlate their beliefs and their actions. Which I admit is cynical.

Santorum should just stop.
