I personally don't like reading poly fics, because I don't get/like the dynamics of it. Maybe the idea of that 'one perfect person' has been drilled into me too much, I don't know. I don't know anyone in a poly or an open relationship, but I'd like to think I'd be cool about it. I wouldn't get it and might ask awkward questions, but that's not bad, right?
But I mainly understand because I like knowing what I get into when it comes to fic. A header doesn't need to give away the entire fic, but some basic things like pairings and a decent summary aren't that much to ask especially if it's a long fic that you've been following a while.
