I think you have every right to be annoyed. I don't like reading het fics. Nothing wrong with them. There's nothing wrong with baseball, but I get no enjoyment out of watching it. So I would be incredibly annoyed, if, say, I read an advertised John/Rodney fic that started John/Rodney only to have them breaking up and Rodney getting together with Keller.

Not to mention a lot of 'love triangles' are set up so you're Team A(AntiB) or Team B(AntiA) and you have reasons you want these two to get together and not those two, so just saying "Hey, if all three of them bang, it's perfect!" No, no it's not.
