YES! I hate it when that happens!

Especially because it's been immensely popular to post AxBxC fics on an AxB community. I could even deal with it being AxB with a side of C - where A and B are the ones with the relationship, and they invite C for fun once in a while, but with an OT3 two thirds of the fic are not the couple I came here for.

Also, I just really like OT3's because the dynamics seem very unrealistic to me. Obviously other people make it work in real life, but it's just so far from what I could make work that it falls apart for me. Particularly because they do always seem so happy immediately. It's like really? No jealousy? No issues whatsoever?

Isn't it nice to know that other people aren't you? That they can have different reactions to things? Man, I think so, whenever a character in a movie or a book reacts in a way that I wouldn't, and I can appreciate their differences from me.

Maybe you should try better OT3 fics.

Awww, it's nice to know you just really like OT3s. Hating or disliking things is boring.

Yeah, definitely. I know if you're writing you can't always predict the direction that the fic would go, but that would be disappointing to me as a reader if the focus of the fic suddenly became getting C to join the relationship.

You know that's a good point too, about realism. Personally I just can't wrap my head around the idea that the pairing in an OTP>OT3 fic would go from being happy together to suddenly really really needing C, which seems to be how a lot of those fics go. Obviously there are people out there who are wired for poly relationships, I just find it hard to believe that all three of them would fall into it so easily, especially if they've grown up in a society that calls for monogamy. Even if you're totally okay with you and your partner seeing other people, there's going to be a lot of socialization and stigma that you'll have to work through. At the very least I'd find it more believable if at least one of the triad members had to confront his/her own feelings or work through jealousy/etc.
